...how to stop, how to be still and how to spend time without needing to be productive or entertained.
We live in a world that's louder and more polarised than ever. Our phones are always within reach, bringing a constant stream of notifications, messages, opinions and expectations. Even the moments that used to belong to us - waiting for a train, sitting in a café, winding down before bed - are often filled with scrolling.
At the same time, many of us are juggling work, family, friendships and endless to-do lists. We're encouraged to make the most of every minute, stay productive and somehow keep everyone else happy too.
We try to be everything to everyone. We say yes more than no. We keep on going. It's no wonder so many of us feel mentally full - overwhelmed, disconnected and unsure of what we actually want and need.
The Switch Off is a gentle antidote. Not because we need fixing, but because we all deserve moments to step away from the noise, slow down and hear ourselves think again.
The Switch Off isn’t about rejecting technology. Life is busy and phones are useful.
We simply believe everyone deserves moments where they're not expected to respond, achieve or be “on”.
Our sessions are designed to fit around busy city living:
All of our sessions are built around three simple ideas:
No pressure.
You can be surrounded by others without needing to chat, perform or entertain.
No expectations.
You don't need to achieve anything or improve yourself.
No screens.
You can give yourself permission to be fully present.
During the main part of the session, there's no talking - just gentle background music.
When the distractions stop and the noise fades, something interesting happens.
The silence creates space.
...to notice thoughts.
...to reflect.
...to see things differently.
"The answers you're looking for are in the silence you're avoiding"
